Cross Country Skiing & Snowshoeing

Bring your cross-country skis to Rhode Island’s many welcoming paths and trails

The rolling hills of Rhode Island, many of them etched with ruins of stone walls that outline bits of ancient farms and fields, are great for cross-country skiing. Moreover, the state has many multipurpose trails – also accommodating walkers, bikers, and horseback riders – that make room for Nordic skiers. In the South County region, tucked-away little nature preserves Like Rome Point in Narragansett, even allow water views for Nordic skiers – something they might not find in the vast mountains to the north. Inland areas like the Carolina Wildlife Management Area, take skiers through and around charming villages and properties that look like they might not have changed since the 1800s.
